GEAR?                                                                                                                                                     Not one, but two Nikon full frame cameras to ensure I’m always backed up. Both with video capability (ask about adding video to your session!).

WHAT WILL MY SESSION BE LIKE?                                                                                           I like to keep things genuine. We’ll probably chat a bit, I’ll get to know you and your kids and I’ll snap as we go. I plan for one to two hours per shoot. You’re always my only session of the day, so you can rest assured that I’ll take the time needed to authentically document the story of you. I’ll capture some posed shots. I’ll become a fly on the wall and capture lots of in-between shots. Your kid might have a giggling fit. Your kid might have a meltdown. I’ll capture that too. And I’m willing to bet those will be your favorites.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?                                                                                                                 I find that simple clothing photographs best, nothing too busy. I like to mix colors that accent each other and try to stay away from anything too matchy matchy. Children LOVE taking pictures when they feel they are wearing a photo worthy outfit so feel free to branch out a little and allow them to show their little personalities because that will shine through in the pictures. I am a little different with my newborn sessions though, I prefer neutrals, pastels, soft fabrics, drapey fabrics and mostly solids. I like for all the focus to be on the perfect little bundle in your arms. For Newborn shoots I always recommend a change of clothes for both Mommy and Baby to be on-hand.

BUT MY KID’S WON’T SIT STILL…
I have yet to come across a kid who will. Kids should be kids. I have a toddler. I get it. I try to keep you and your kids moving throughout your session. I encourage breaks. If you are willing to go with the flow, your session will be awesome. Your kid’s quirks will shine through and make your session so uniquely you. Embrace it.

WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?
Lifestyle newborn sessions take place in your home. I photograph you and your baby as you are. No beanbags. No crazy poses. I simply document you and your new family in your home and in your element. All other sessions take place in either your home or a location of your choice. You choose, or if you’d like my advice, I am more than happy to help. I’m a big advocate of in home sessions, I believe they are very uniquely you and allow for you to be comfortable and genuine in front of the camera. There is a travel fee for locations outside of a sixty mile roundtrip radius to Michelle Payne Photography.

WHEN CAN I SEE MY IMAGES?
Two to three weeks after our session, you’ll receive a password protected online gallery where you can view your proofs. Often, I have sessions back more quickly but during peak times these will be what you can expect for my turnaround time.From there, purchasing your collection is easy. For weddings, please allow four to six weeks to receive your gallery. I put just as much heart into my post processing as I do my shooting, I promise you.

WHEN WILL MY PURCHASED PHOTOS BE READY?
Digital downloads are available immediately. For print purchases, please allow four to six weeks for your prints to be processed and shipped to you.
